Persuasion in political discourse: Culture issues in the interventions of the headof government in parliament.
Main Article Content
Abstract
The research article analyzes the persuasive mechanisms used by Prime
Minister Aziz Akhannouch in his political speech during the parliamentary
session on January 31, 2022, focused on cultural policies. The study examines
how the topics were organized and arranged for maximum persuasion and
evaluates the evidence and arguments employed to strengthen and appeal to
the audience.
Findings indicate that the Prime Minister used his speech to convince
parliamentarians of the credibility of his content while also targeting cultural
elites among citizens to endorse the government's cultural policies. This
strategy aimed to win over cultural experts and highlight the government's
achievements in the cultural sector, thereby fostering reconciliation with
political work and encouraging a return to active political engagement through
the Prime Minister's party. The analysis deepens the understanding of political
discourse mechanisms and their impact, revealing interactions between
politics and culture in the Moroccan context.
