Towards understanding the power of the word:racism in light of critical discourse analysis
Main Article Content
Abstract
The article aims to explore the complex relationship between racism and
discourse through the lens of critical discourse analysis (CDA), highlighting
how elite discourse perpetuates racism through verbal discrimination and
reinforcement of racial biases. It emphasizes the urgent need to understand
the role of discourse in spreading racist ideologies. Especially in the context
of the rise of the right and the accompanying growth of hatred against
immigrants. The study aims to analyze how language shapes hierarchies
and social realities, using an empirical corpus to illustrate the discursive
strategies. Ultimately, the findings show that racism is not just about
prejudice, but also about power dynamics, which play a critical role in
perpetuating racial discrimination.
