Environmental Dynamics and Their Impacts on Natural Resources in the Eastern Rif: Case Study of the Western Part of the Middle Kert Basin (Geomatic Approach)
Main Article Content
Abstract
Over the past three decades, the mountains and basins of the eastern
Moroccan Rif have undergone profound and complex transformations that
have affected both the structure and the geographical landscape (EI
Abbassi, 1997). These changes, characterized notably by a massive rural
exodus, have led to a reorganization of local space under the influence of
numerous internal and external factors. The new forms of land use, as
spatial manifestations, consequences, and impacts of these
transformations, reveal the existing power dynamics, their limits, and their
consequences (Gauche, 2005). It is within this context that this study is
framed, focusing on land use in certain parts of the mountains and basins
of the eastern Moroccan Rif and its impacts on natural resources. The study
aims to address the question of vulnerability by using geographical
approaches and tools to examine the common manifestations of these land
uses, track their geographical distribution and dynamics, and analyze their
spatial/environmental impacts at different spatial scales.
